You know, I don't want to be "that guy" but I can dig the social media uproar from everybody because cops killed numerous black men over the years! I dig that! It bothers me too.
But, what bothers me more is knowing that my step son who was a young Black man was murdered by another young Black man. I did some research and the weekend he was killed, there were at least another 30 other young black men throughout the USA were murdered by other young black men that same weekend. I don't want no trouble I just want to know where was the social media uproar, where were the protests where was all of the anger then? There have been 224 murder in Chicago alone in 2014 overwhelming majority were black on black. More black on black than police on black for sure. Where is the anger? Where are the TV news stories? Ain't none! We accept the fact that black men kill black men!
I'm black, the committee never told me that the rules on blackness changed. they never told me that we can call each other nigg@ but white people better not. We can murder each other but white people better not.
Slavery and bondage back then was physical. It's mental now, so the approach to changing the slavery we are in now gotta be mental. And the weapons of choice must be our minds! We can only work within the confines of the system that we were put in. How many more black people will end up arrested or hurt or how many black lives will be lost because of a violent protest. They will always make more bullets, more mace, train more dogs to set on us, build more prisons and will actually get paid more from our violent response. Sounds like a win win to me!
We are in a chess game, and rioting and destruction of our own neighborhoods is checkers. We in the middle of a chess game and we go and riot and we talking about king me. We need to learn the rules of chess, which is the game that we were dropped in. It's a personal opinion but if we gon win we need to learn to start playing chess! We need lawyers, we need doctors, we need advocates, we need leaders, we need banks, we need newspapers and media outlets to report and fight injustices, we need role models for our children, we need the intelligent men and women that we are to start screaming CHECK MATE not king me! What we don't need are more black men confined and sitting in jail cells or dead! We need to be more angry when a black man kills a black man then we are when a white cop kills a black man. We don't need and can't afford apathy!
Albert Einstein said "You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else"
This ain't the game we chose, but its the game that were forced to play! AND IT'S CHESS NOT CHECKERS!
A wise man named Grand Puba Maxwell said Knowledge of self to better our self CUZ I know myself that we can live much better than this!
Its fair to say that cops kill black men for the same reason black men kill black men. neither of them think that a black mans life has any value. But, I wonder if we KNEW about Imhotep, and that Hippocrates and Hannibal were black. If we knew that Benjamin Banneker a black man who invented the almanac and drew and designed the layout of Washington D.C. If we knew that Aesop of Aesop's fables was black. If we knew about Langston Hughes and Maya Angelou, Haile Selassie, Elijah Muhammad, Clarence 13X, the accomplishments of Harriet Tubman. If we knew the history of Timbuktu, if we knew how great we were and on and on would we still be killing each other at this rate and be apathetic to it when we hear about it? If we knew how hard the fight was for us to no longer have to be called
n!ggas, would we be walking around calling ourselves n!ggas? Would we still sell drugs to each other and destroy our own communities?
Our ancestors were more than just slaves!
How many black men have been killed by other black men before and since the day that this cop killed this young man in Mo? does anyone know? Does anyone care? How come we are not mad? I did the research but the stats are to heart breaking to reveal. All While we are protesting and coming up with catchy slogans for when a white man kills a black man.
This ain't a black race white race problem! This is a human race problem! If there is a hole in one part of a boat, that section aint gon sink. the WHOLE boat will sink and so will EVERYBODY on it! Hate and greed and division got us into this. I suspect we will need love and unity to get us out! I will do my part to encourage, lead, and share messages of hope positivity and love to EVERYONE!
I ENCOURAGE YOU TO DO THE SAME!
IF YOU THINK WE CAN CHANGE THE WORLD OR IF YOU THINK WE CAN'T, YOUR RIGHT!
Yours truly,
A concerned, yet positive, hopeful and optimistic Black Man.
PEACE!
